The RV179 RoadVise from Arkon is a premium car cradle built for dashboards, windscreens and other flat or mildly textured panels. With a case fitted, it accommodates phones weighing up to 2 pounds and measuring up to 4” in width — that covers the Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Note 5 and Note 4, Galaxy S8, S7 and S6, Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 5, LG G6, G5 and G4, HTC One M9, One M8 and One Max, Nokia Lumia 1020 and 1520, plus the Motorola Moto G and Moto X. A spring-loaded action opens the arms and clamps firmly onto handsets up to 4” wide, and Arkon suggests running the RoadVise Holder with phones wearing skins or rugged cases. Two hands are needed to load and unload your device by design, so nothing pops loose while you tilt the screen to a better angle. Because the cradle sits low, the rear camera stays exposed for quick photos or video. Setting it up takes seconds: press the cradle onto the pedestal's 17mm ball and lock it down with the supplied tightening ring. The base combines polyurethane gel with suction for an exceptionally strong bond across the whole contact area. On soft vinyl, leather or similar dash materials, Arkon recommends fitting the included 3M adhesive mounting disk to avoid leaving permanent indentations. Despite that grip, the sticky suction mount lifts off cleanly and can be reused. The arm swings vertically and rotates a full 360°, so you can line the screen up however suits the driver.
