Please note this is a base only rather than a finished mounting system: you receive the aluminium seat rail or floor mount with its 4-hole AMPS head and 18in flexible gooseneck (holders are sold separately). Arkon's GN088-SBH-AMPS pedestal suits cars and trucks and can serve as a replacement, an upgrade, or a second position alongside a pedestal you already run. It accepts anything built around the 4-hole AMPS pattern, such as vehicle-specific mounts (VSMs), cameras, GPS units, audio/video receivers and satellite radios including the Sirius S50, Sirius XM Onyx Plus, XM Onyx EZ, Sirius XM Lynx, Stratus 7, Dock & Play and Sirius Dock & Play (each sold separately). It is equally at home carrying mobile radio holders, housings and similar equipment used across public safety, construction and utility work. Once an industry standard, the 4-hole AMPS layout places four holes in a rectangle measuring 30.17mm by 38.05mm, taken centre-to-centre between the holes. Built from aluminium that stays strong while still flexing, the seat rail or floor mount is a smart pick for service vehicles, utes and trucks, or for anyone who wants devices within easy reach but away from the windscreen and dashboard. Fitting to the seat rail calls for a socket wrench: back off the passenger seat track bolt, slip the supplied seat track bolt bracket into place, then do the bolt back up. Bend the 18in gooseneck to shape and turn the swivel ball adapter head through a full 360 degrees to line the device up exactly where you want it. Floor brackets are also in the box if you would rather screw the pedestal straight into the vehicle floor. (Warning: drilling into the floor of a vehicle can cause damage. Take care and speak with a professional mobile installer so you do not drill into sensitive vehicle components.) A metal conduit is included as well, letting you brace the gooseneck against the console or another surface to cut down on vibration.
